Jurats:  A jurat is a statement on an affidavit of when, where and before whom it was sworn.  A jurat is used when a signer is swearing to the content of a document. A notary must administer either an oath or affirmation in order to complete the jurat.  It is required that a signer sign in the presence of a notary.
